Ribbon Gothic

Tasked with creating a 3D alphabet, I chose to use two contrasting kinds of ribbon to create a modern version of a traditional blackletter, or "gothic" typeface. The letters were created by twisting the ribbons into the ideal shapes and taping and gluing them onto sheets of paper. The final objectives included a 2D vector alphabet, a 3D photographic alphabet, a book, and a poster, as well as a canvas piece for our end-of-semester show. This project was presented at the Society of Typographic Arts conference in January 2016 and at the ICFF show in NYC in May 2016.
